The Lisbon Treaty. Today.
God help us.
The Britannic Diamond Jubilee

I am an American who realizes that the shelf life of our democracy is over and that monarchy is the best form of government ever devised, regardless of what Churchill said. Democracies and republics can work well for a century or two, as they did here and in Greece and Rome, but they inevitably destroy themselves in time. At that point, they are conquered by invaders, become dictatorships, or, in the best case, convert to monarchy.

Lisbon is proof that elections aren't base don "The will fo the people" and do nothign to stop "The elites" from ruling. A Common complaint agaisnt Monarhcy is that uneelcted elites make all the decisions, but Lisbon shows that Elected or Beurocratically appointed elites are just as capable.
If they don't get the vote the way they want it, they hodl another, then another, until they win. If Lisbon had been voted for last year, there woudl have been no follow up referendum.
Its all a joke.
